Why did I receive a connection alert?
Why did I receive a connection alert?
You received this email because Gmelius can no longer communicate with a member’s Gmail account.
When this happens, Gmelius automatically notifies the affected user and all administrators within the same Gmelius subscription. This helps ensure that the issue is visible and can be resolved promptly.
Without an active Gmail connection, the affected user may no longer receive or synchronize certain Gmelius activities, such as shared emails, @mentions, and other features.
What causes a Gmail connection to be lost?
There are several possible reasons why Gmelius may lose access to a user's Gmail account. The most common are:
-
The user changed their Google account password.
-
The user revoked Gmelius's access.
-
The organization's Google Workspace settings changed.
How can I prevent Gmail connection issues?
If you are a Google Workspace administrator, you can install Gmelius directly from the Google Workspace Marketplace using administrator-managed installation.
This allows Gmelius to manage the app's authorization through your Google Workspace configuration, helping ensure that the connection token can be renewed when needed and reducing the risk of Gmail connection interruptions.
To benefit from this setup, make sure Gmelius is installed for the relevant users through the Google Admin Console and that the required permissions are authorized.
-
Sign in to the Google Admin Console.
-
Navigate to Apps → Google Workspace Marketplace apps → Apps list.
-
Locate and select Gmelius.
-
Open Domain Installed Apps and select View organizational units and groups.
-
Verify that Gmelius is enabled for the organizational units (OUs) or Google Groups containing the users who need it.
If all users in your organization require Gmelius, verify that the installation applies to everyone. If only certain users require Gmelius, make sure the appropriate OUs or groups are selected.
Ask the affected user to reconnect their Gmail account
Even if Gmelius is correctly installed and permitted in Google Workspace, the affected user may still need to re-establish their individual Gmail connection.
Ask the user to follow the reconnection instructions sent in the notification email, or have them open Gmelius and reconnect their Google account if prompted.
Once the connection has been restored, verify that the user's Gmail-related activities are working as expected.
How can I monitor the connection status?
You can check the connection status in Gmelius by accessing your Gmelius dashboard > My company > Teammates.
If the affected user has reconnected their Gmail account but the issue persists, contact Gmelius Support for further assistance.
