How to prevent email conversations from being shared

If you wish to prevent the automatic sharing of conversations for specific contacts within a shared mailbox, please follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Gear icon at right side of your Gmail inbox
  2. Access your Gmail settings
  3. Head to the "Filters and Blocked Addresses" tab and find the filter "Apply label "Inbox - the name of your shared inbox".  As an example, I created a shared inbox for
  4. Click on "edit"

  1. Add the email address of the user under the "From" field. This is how you need to add it: -({email address})
    As an example, I want to share my inbox with the team but I don't want emails coming from "" to be automatically shared. 
  2. Click on "Continue" > "Ok" > "Update filter".

Prevent forwarded emails from being shared

Plan: Enterprise

If you enable this option, you are excluding from being shared any emails in a shared email thread that have a subject line starting with "Fwd:"

In other words, if someone forwards an email from a shared conversation, the forwarded email will not be shared in the thread.

The admin of the account can activate the option from their Account Dashboard, under Sharing Settings from this page:
